Looking for a cranberry sauce that stands out?

Over the years I have tried many, and I mean many different recipes. I think I tried a new one each year searching for just the right blend of aromatic spices that complemented the tartness of the cranberries with a hint of orange. I was never satisfied until we tried Saveur’s Roasted Cranberry Sauce.

I must admit when Roger proposed we try this recipe I was a bit skeptical, I mean who puts jalapenos in cranberry sauce! However, the beautiful blend of cranberries, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon orange, and jalapeno will have your guest commenting on this unique dish throughout the evening. The first time I brought this to a potluck, they all looked at me in horror, but now they beg me to make it every year. I have to keep some out for myself before I bring it over as they fight over the leftovers.

I love cranberries and couldn’t wait for the season to start. In B.C. Canada fresh cranberries were always available in the fall. I did not realize how lucky I was to live near cranberry farms until I moved to the US and saw the stuff that came out of a can – I was horrified and asked if it was edible…. Nowadays cranberries are so much easier to obtain. Give this recipe a try! You won’t be disappointed.
